Teacher – Melissa Nygren
Prairie Songstress Music is owned and operated by Melissa Nygren. Melissa has been playing the guitar since 1996 and has been teaching since 2005. As a singer/songwriter she has had the pleasure of touring across Canada and overseas. She has released 5 albums with her two bands and continues to write, record and perform. This intelligent and experienced prairie songstress has never hesitated to spread her music in a journey that’s taken her from the back porch to big stages in more than a decade of writing, performing and collaborating.
Teacher – Jennifer Elash
Since 2002, I’ve had the opportunity to teach and offer my skills as a guitar instructor which has helped me to grow musically and excel in all genres. Over the years, I’ve met and become friends with some very talented musicians who have contributed their efforts to my year – end recitals, giving my students the opportunity to know what it’s like to play in a band situation. This gives them the motivation and confidence to want to perform more and create their own musical talents. From Blues, to Rock to Country to Folk to Indie, my passion for music, playing and teaching both electric and acoustic has enabled me to do what I love. I am very thrilled to re-locate back to my roots, joining Prairie Songstress Music and looking forward to the great opportunities to come!
Teacher – Justine Kozan
Justine Kozan is talented young guitarist with a passion for music. Taking her years as a Prairie Songstress students herself, She is excited to share her knowledge of guitar and music to all her students. She as benefited so much from the musical influences in her life that has made her excited to continue to move forward in her music. She loves playing the guitar, writing songs and having fun playing music with others. Justine Loves to play all kinds of genres of music. Justine has had an amazing experiance teaching with Prairie Songstress. She loves seeing people grow in their guitar skills from her help. She is encourageing to all her students and has helped them get inspired to learn and improve. Justine will help you to learn to play your favourite songs, and to try new things. Personable and outgoing, Justine will help make your lessons fun and beneficial to all her students!
Teacher – Clayton Linthicum
Clayton loves music. If he’s not coming up with a new song, or
studying the guitar, you can find him flipping through his giant
record collection. Since 2000, music has occupied most of Clayton’s
time. Beginning with piano, Clayton found his true calling with the
guitar. Not only will Clayton give you a solid musical foundation, he
will show you how to learn from listening to music. Through his
emphasis on simple and practical ways of teaching, you will be
performing for your friends in no time. Despite being a young man, he
already has a sizeable amount of experience under his belt. He is 1/2
of the group “Kacy and Clayton” who have caught the attention of many.
His specialties are finger-style guitar, claw hammer banjo, and many
other “folk” styles. Clayton’s passion and enthusiasm for music is
contagious and sure to inspire any students!
