Melissa Nygren

Prairie Songstress Music is owned and operated by Melissa Nygren. As a singer/songwriter she has had the pleasure of touring across Canada and overseas. She has released 5 albums with various bands and continues to write, record and perform. This experienced prairie songstress has never hesitated to spread her music in a journey that’s taken her from the back porch to big stages in more than a decade of writing, performing and collaborating.

Maria Himbeault

Maria Himbeault has been an instructor with Prairie Songstress Music since 2016. Throughout this time she has enjoyed watching her students learn and grow as musicians and as people. Music has always been an important aspect of Maria’s life and has shaped her into the person she is today. Therefore, she believes that the music lessons she provides should be educational, confidence building, and most importantly, fun for her students! Furthermore, Prairie Songstress Music itself has been an important aspect of her life as she began taking lessons with Melissa Nygren at the age of 11. Maria also has a background in up to grade 7 Royal Conservatory Piano, playing Tuba in Snösvänget Orchestra at the University of Umeå in Sweden, and taking part in local Musical Theatre productions with Saskatoon Summer Players. Maria is offering guitar, voice, ukulele and songwriting lessons online as well as in-person at our 213 2nd St. East studio location in Saskatoon.

Marley Hauk

Marley developed a love of music at a very early age. She was almost 6 when she started voice and guitar lessons at Prairie Songstress Music. Music has always remained a huge part of her life. Over the years she has performed in many venues all over the city. She loves to write songs, and enjoys being a part of choir and musicals at her high school. She is excited to encourage her students’ love of music and help them find their creativity and confidence through music, just as she has learned to do.  Marley is teaching voice and guitar lessons at our studio, 2811 Estey Drive in Saskatoon.


Nandita Anand Saskatoon Piano Teacher

Nandita Anand

Nandita fell in love with music when she first started playing the piano at four years old. Since then, music has become an important part of who she is and continues to help her grow through all phases of her life. Nandita’s favorite aspect of music is performing, which she has accomplished through piano, singing, musical theatre, and playing the alto saxophone. Nandita has her grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music certification in piano, as well as her grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music certification in music theory. Through music, Nandita hopes to help her students build confidence, expression, and creativity, all while having fun! Nandita is offering piano lessons at our Estey Drive studio location. 

Patrick Ollenberg Saskatoon Voice Teacher

Patrick Ollenberger

Patrick has been involved in the world of music since he was 11 years old. Originally starting in band, once he got into high school is when his love for the arts blossomed. During this time, Patrick taught himself how to play piano, and additionally was a part of the band, drumline, choir, and theatre programs throughout all years of high school. Currently, he is a member of a local mixed voice chorus, Acoustic Theory where he is a section leader, and a part of an international mixed voice Barbershop Harmony Society chorus called Prism. He also partakes in the Music For The Gut every summer, a fundraiser show that raises awareness for Crohn's and Colitis Canada. Since joining the world of A Capella and barbershop style music, Patrick is so excited to continue to grow and evolve as a vocalist, and also help others discover and excel with the passion and joy that music brings to him. Patrick is offering voice lessons at our 2nd st. location.

Terri Bear-Linklater

Music has been a big part of her life for many years. She has been playing in various bands for the past 15 years, performing on guitar and singing backup vocals. Terri is also a songwriter and enjoys creating original music.

Terri currently plays in an all-female band called All Girl Chill, and they are excited to be releasing their first EP this fall. One of her favorite things about being a musician is sharing music with others, whether that’s on stage, in the classroom, or around a campfire.

As a teacher, she has taught choir, ukulele, and music to students of all ages. She has also taken guitar and singing lessons herself over the years, and she truly believes that lessons can help build skills, confidence, and a love of performing.

Her goal is to create a fun, supportive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable trying new things, making mistakes, and growing as musicians. Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or already have some experience, Terri looks forward to making music with you! She will be teaching guitar and ukulele at 2811 Estey Drive.

Aspen Nagy

Aspen is excited to be joining Prairie Songstress Music as a guitar instructor. Music has been an important part of Aspen's life ever since picking up the guitar in first grade. Over the years, playing music has brought countless opportunities for creativity, growth, and connection, and Aspen is passionate about sharing that same experience with students.

Aspen believes that music lessons should be fun, encouraging, and inspiring while helping students build confidence and develop their skills. Whether a student is picking up a guitar for the first time or continuing their musical journey, Aspen strives to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels supported and excited to learn.

Aspen offers in-person guitar lessons and looks forward to helping students discover their own love of music while growing as musicians and individuals.

Japser Sheng

Jasper has been playing piano for over 10 years and enjoys bringing energy and positivity into everything he does. His love of music is inspired by his favourite songs and composers, and he especially enjoys learning and performing music that is meaningful to him.

He holds his Level 10 Royal Conservatory of Music certification in piano, along with Level 9 History and Harmony and Level 8 Theory. Jasper has also performed as an accompanist for school choirs, music festival competitors, and university audition candidates, and has participated in concert band and jazz band.

Jasper hopes to create fun, encouraging lessons where students can explore music they enjoy, build confidence, and develop strong piano and music theory skills. He is offering piano and music theory lessons with Prairie Songstress Music.
